If there's something strange in your neighbourhood, who ya gonna call? Ghostbusters please because none of the Buffs will be willing to come to the rescue – baka maihi pa kami sa pantalon. It’s that time of the month again wherein we review the month's WBW sessions which featured speakers from GoNegosyo’s Youth Entrepreneurship Summit 2009. Watch as the Buffs talk about how opportunities are ever present, the importance of a clear sense of mission, the struggle for a proactive mindset for a better nation, the necessity for self-appreciation and individuality, and lastly, a slew of the Buffs’ personal scary stories for this month’s WBW MIR Halloween special.

Show notes:

First! Our thanks to:

  1. To our speakers, viewers and The Philippine Blog Awards 2009 for honouring EntrepBuff.com with the Best Videocast Blog award. Super duper thank you to all!
  2. Ideal Events and GoNegosyo for helping us out cover GoNegosyo's Youth Entrepreneurship Summit 2009: Sigaw ng Kabataan.

Talks discussed in this Month in Review:

  1. WBW 34: Opportunities are Right in Front of You! It’s up to You to Pick Them Up with Vince Golangco
  2. WBW 35: Clarity of Mind, Clarity of Vision. What is Your End Game? with Francisco Colayco
  3. WBW 36: More Action and Less Complain and We’ll Build a Better Nation with Joey Concepcion
  4. WBW 37: Invest in Yourself because You are Your Greatest Asset part 1 of 2 with Harry Hawson
  5. WBW 37: Invest in Yourself because You are Your Greatest Asset part 2 of 2 with Harry Hawson

Discussion:

  • Opportunities are not bounded to one single geographic location. Opportunities are everywhere.
  • You choose to see opportunities.
  • Focus on your vision, and decide not to get distracted.
  • After all the complains are done, now what?! Take action!
  • All outcomes comes from actions, actions that come from decisions, decisions come from us. We are responsible for everything that happens to us.
  • There is no thing as “no choice”.
  • The only way to improve the quality of life, is to invest in human capital. So invest in yourself! - paraphrasing from the book Naked Economics: Undressing the Dismal Science by Charles Wheelan

Nice twist for a Halloween Special! Sana lahat kayo nag-share ng ghost story. Hihihi! I enjoyed your discussion. I love everything you shared especially about the last topic. I've always believed that our greatest asset is our self. And then time and then money last. I learned this from the book Why We Want You To Be Rich by Trump and Kiyosaki. I didn't know we're already at the dawn of another age, the Age of Wisdom. Glad I learned that from you. Also, thanks Ken for sharing the title of the book you're reading. I think it's an interesting read for those who enjoy economics like me. Congrats for another job well done and for bagging that Phil. Blog Award! =)

Hahaha thanks quick. pag lahat kami nagshare, then abot na ng 2 hours yung buong episode hahaha. I totally agree with yourself as the biggest asset. From the Naked Economics book nga, you are really the greatest way out of poverty. To invest in your own human capital. Medyo out of topic, pero related ng konti, did some research on the credibility of Tim Ferriss - 4 hour work week author - and Robert Kiyosaki, apparently both of them state fraudulent achievements :) Si Ferriss, medyo malabo yung accounting niya ng events niya sa TED talk niya, and si Kiyosaki, wala naman pala talagang "Rich Dad" hahaha Oh well. I guess the moral of the story is, take what is logical and scrap the rest. An oh! Always question whatever you've learned, your values, everything until you've found your own answer :) And thanks for the congratulatory remark :) As always, the speakers, the team and those who watch are what makes EntrepBuff.com the way that it is.

O kaya sana separate ghost story special na lang para puro kuwentuhan about your freaky experiences. hehehe. When I was little, I love listening to ghost stories. Tapos takutan after, hahaha. Ang cute pag natatakot ang mga boys! Hihihi! Anyway, I also read about Kiyosaki being a not credible source. There were some people who attacked his teachings in Rich Dad, Poor Dad because apparently, it resulted to some college kids dropping after reading his book. Sad. But anyway, the book I mentioned earlier was a collaboration between him and Donald Trump. Actually, I get more life's lessons from Trump 'coz I like his toughness and seriousness. I only read Kiyosaki after because of the buzz about his RDPD book. Yeah, I agree. That's one of the things I learned from Ateneo. It's constantly questioning your values or beliefs or whatever it is that you're not sure about. Not just taking in what's spoon fed on you. My Philo classes has changed the way I look at life. Anyway, look forward to your next speakers! Keep up the spirit! =)
